Yeah, the "floppy32" disk on the CD is bad... I've made a new one,
available currently as http://suse.com/~uzi/sparc/floppy32
You mention an OLD SCSI CD drive... is it capable of handling 512 byte
blocks? This is mandatory for a SPARC.

That's what you'll see with the old disk... not so with the new one.
Another option you have is to boot the machine over the network.

Sounds like the kernel rpm wasn't installed, or completely installed.
Some things like romfs and iso9660 support are generall built as modules
in distributions... also the system.map warnings are another clue of
that being the problem.
