Hello Everyone,
I have a Sparc-5 (70MHz, 80-megs of RAM, 2.1 gig HD), when the
installation gets to the 49th package
the install locks up. However, prior to the 49th package I noticed
(around the 5 or 6 package) there was a RPM error.
The installation method was the Yast2 type (this is the method that
would actually mount the CD-ROM), I couldn't
use the Text based install because the CD-ROM wouldn't mount. I've
installed SuSE sparc linux before (on a Ultra-30
and a Sparc-10) without major issues. It seems that Sparc-5's are
problematic to some extent. Is there anyone out there
in SuSE Sparc Linux land that might know of a solution to my install
problem. Thank you in advance for your help.
The installation gets to the 3rd package (base package) and errors
(called "RPM returned an error"). In VT3
I see this on the last line "Starting /usr/lib/Yast2/bin/Yast2.start".
In VT4 I see and 50 lines saying "CD-ROM
I/O error: dev 0b:00, sector 44752" and it goes on for about 50 lines
but with different sector numbers. In VT7 the
last line says "PEXExtensionInit: Couldn't open default PEX font file
Roman_M". All the other VT's do not
show any warnings or errors.
I'll bet Uzi could solve this issue :).....He's Top Jimmy, he's the King
! (Hint hint, Nod nod....Say no more, say no more).
