If you check the isdn4linux faq, you'll find some info....
<top-of-my-head>
Long, long time ago, isdn was working (sort of) for sun4m machines, like
SS10 and SS-LX (with have build-in isdn support)
Never heard of working isdn-sbus-boards under linux (solaris, no problem)
Brent Baccala, did a lot of work to get it working, and in kernel 2.3.0 one
could select in make menu_config under hisax, the DBRI-code
Compiled with no errors and kernel started up with no errors.
Then disaster struck: 32bit/64bit merged started for sun and from 2.3.5 till
2.3.47 kernels could not compiled for sun4M-machines.
In the meantime *lots* of things changed for the I4L code.
Since 2.3.47, 2..3.99-xxx and 2.4.0-preXXX things became real bad. Within
make file (isdn/hisax) two options (dbri and am7930) merged into one:
am7930.
SS10 and LX uses the DBRI-chip-set. However, a short glimps at the OLD
make-file code learned that both options produced the same output: a
dependancy om rawhdlc.c and foreign.c (??)
On recent kernels, the makefile was changed, so these files were never
compiled anymore, whatever you selected.
Forcing these two files to be compiled, resulted in lots of compilation
errors
</top-of-my-head>
I mentioned it to several lists & people: with following results
1) nothing
2) nothing
3) nothing
4) isdn4Slinux not maintained anymore by Brent.
5) remarks like: use a PC in stead of sun
6) remarks like: to few people use isdn on sun, not worthwhile starting to
maintain anymore.
So I am afraid this is a serious case of bit-rot within the kernel (ouch).
