hi...
I have a Sun Sparc 10 with dual processors, 64mb, internal 1g scsi
drive, etc... currently running *another* sparc Linux distribution - and
I'm thrilled to see the SuSE port for sparc hardware - since I run SuSE on
all of my x86 machines by choice.
just wondering if anyone can answer some general questions - since the
FAQ list was empty the last time I checked.
Is there an SMP kernel in the current iso images?
Will there be an *official* announcement of the SuSE sparc
distribution... and will it be available in a boxed form?
Does anyone know of a specific list of mirrors with the sparc
distribution? I've stumbled across a couple... but I'm generally looking
at ~ 2 hr downloads for each iso image - even on a fast connection at a
university.
I'm humoring a modem download right now for the first iso image (~ 25
hours) - but I'm sure my ISP will drop my connection before it's done.
Are there any sites set up for FTP installs and/or floppy images to
start the install? I've previously done FTP or NFS installs after booting
from floppy since I don't have an external CD-rom drive for my Sun
machine. Also... this would give me a better chance for *incremental* downloads
- especially since I always do a minimal install to start.
many thanks for any kind replies ;-)
