Subject: Type 6 Keyboard Problem [Ultra 5]

    Hello,

I had a keyboard problem, and I think I have fixed it. I was wondering
if anyone else had seen the same thing.

I let my friend install Linux for the first time on my sparc. He only
used YaST2, default partitioning, and installed nearly everything. The
install finished fine, but we could not login. The keyboard would
only produce the wrong characters. Rebooting did not help.
I thought he missed up somewhere, and I was going to reinstall anyway.

Today I did a similar install, YaST2 only, my partitions, my packages.
I got the same keyboard problem, but I saw the keyboard map had
shifted to the right q to w, a to s, etc. I got logged in as root, and
fired up SAX. I selected the type 5 non euro keyboard, and restarted
the x-server from the login screen. All was well, even after a reboot.

    YaST2 Setting
English(US) (works in the test window, not to login or in terminals)

    SAX Setting
    Type 5 non euro

    System
Ultra 5 (was running Solaris 8 just fine)
Type 6 Keyboard (The one they give you with the low end systems now.)

Thank you for your time and consideration.

    Sincerely,

    Peter D. Manina
