I'm writing a review of SuSE for SPARC and it's not going well...

Subject: I'm writing a review of SuSE for SPARC and it's not going well...

I have downloaded the ISO images, burned discs, have booted the 1st CD
on a 52Mb SPARCstation 1+ and I'm running into what appear to be problems
    with the basic installation procedure.

Am I right in concluding that nobody has tested an text-based install over
the TTY-A port? I see errors that the installation procedure can't
locate a file descriptor for the console and is trying at /dev/tty10
and /dev/tty8 after printing out that only /dev/tty00 through /dev/tty03
were found (mouse, keyboard, TTY-A and TTY-B, I presume). Also, the menu
highlighting doesn't seem to work under DOS Kermit (I don't happen to have
a VT100 at work) but at least the colors, etc., do. In case anyone is
checking, whatever control codes you are sending for formatting boxes, etc.,
in the setup screens, don't happen to work with Windows HyperTerm. I realize
it's not your fault that PeeCee programmers can't emulate a VT100 worth a
damn, nevertheless, it's what happens to be out there and it might be worth
a little time to pick sequences that aren't buggy under WinBlows cruftware.

The role I am attempting to put this SPARC into is as a headless server. I
can grab a frame-buffer and a mouse/keyboard, but at the moment, there is
    not any of that installed.

Is there anything I can do from here or should I just abandon my attempts
and try it graphically? Many older SPARCs are running around stripped and
are useful as servers, but I cringe at the thought of running X on a 16Mhz
    machine.

    Thanks,
    -ethan
