    Subject: SparcStation 20 sound

I upgraded to SuSE 7.1, hopinng it would help me get sound working on my SS20.
Alas, I run YaST2 and it correctly identifies and installs the sound driver for
the Sun DBRI and says I can use it immediately, but it does not seem to work.

When I try to start aRts from the command line, I get the error message:

Error while initializing the sound driver:
    SNDCTL_DSP_SETFMT failed - Invalid argument

Also, the alsaconf tool crashes when I envoke it from the SuSE configuration
    menu.

Another silly question. I see 4 plugs on the back of the SS20 for sound- one
labelled for a headphone, one for a mike (?), and one each for in and out
signal. I'm using a headset that works with my PC soundcard. Is this headset
supposed to work with the SS20, or is there some special audio device I have to
    use?

    Thank you for your help.
