    Subject: 7.1 on Ultra 5 - hme0 won't ping

    I have successfully installed using suse-sparc-7.1-CD1.iso on my sun4u
    Ultra 5 (270 MHz) but can't get the hme0 interface to ping outside (but
    can ping localhost), after doing network setup via YaST. I get the
    feeling Linux can't see my hme0 interface. Any ideas?

    /etc/modules.conf:
    alias eth0 sunhme

    /etc/rc.config:
    IPADDR_0="10.0.0.53"
    NETDEV_0="eth0"
    IFCONFIG_0="10.0.0.53 broadcast 10.0.0.255 netmask 255.255.255.0 up"
    FQHOSTNAME="taz.acropolis.com"

    /etc/route.conf
    10.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 255.255.255.0 eth0
    default 10.0.0.1

    Do I need a statement that allows subnet zero (like you do on Cisco
    routers)?

    Any ideas?

    Thanks
