Hello,
I am trying to compile the XFree V4.1.0 tree on a Sun Ultra5 with an ATI
card, and SuSE Linux 7.1 Sparc version installed. So far, I have run into
these problems:
First: Bison not installed, compile failed.
Resolution: Download bison v1.28 from fsf.org, compiled and installed.
Second: Flex not installed, compile failed.
Resolution: Download Flex v 2.5.4 from fsf.org, compiled and installed.
The compile seemed to work with some minor warnings along the way, however I
am getting the message below when trying to start X. I am not sure were to
go from here, I have looked through Relnotes, INSTALL-X.org, searched on
newsgroups, e-mailed the lists at xfree.org and started looking through the
source for X. I am not a software developer, but done some coding. I have
seen vague references while searching that this may be a bug in the driver
code. Any help would be appreciated, or pointers in the right direction, as
I think someone out there may have seen this before, and I would rather not
rebuild the wheel so to speak.
Error: xf86MapPciMem: Could not mmap PCI memory
