Hello to all,
sorry for my first mail written in german, so i repeat it in english. My
SparcStation 10 sometimes suddenly "freezes". I added a part of
/var/log/messages, so perhaps someone may find out what happens. On Jul 24
10:59:00 the log ends with the entry "sun /USR/SBIN/CRON[4849]: (root) CMD
( rm -f /var/spool/cron/lastrun/cron.hourly)". After that i rebooted the
system, because there was no possibility to reach the system by HTTP, FTP,
SSH, Telnet. Sometimes it gives back a ping, but not always. The Sparc is
equipped with two SM30 processors, a single 64MB Memory module and one 6,4
GB SCSI-Harddisk. I´m using Bootprom 2.25 and Linux 7.1. I´ve already
checked the load, there seemes to be no prob, top shows about 6-8 MB free
memory, processor load is not very high (sometimes up to 17-20%, but never
more), there are no unknown processes. I already thought of a memory
error, perhaps someone can tell me how to check memory modules. And, by
the way, does somebody know the "smilie" in /var/log/messages???
Greetings from Cologne,
Peter Wafzig.
