    Subject: [suse-sparc] Install/booting problem on sparc 10

    Hi all,

have tried to avoid posting to the list for as long as possible but frustration
has gotten the better of me.

I have installed the base SuSE distribution for 7.1 with little fuss on a Sparc
10 with yast2. I installed silo into the /boot partition rather than the MBR.
When it comes time to reboot the system and then continue the installation the
    following is displayed...

    Rebooting with command:
Boot device: /iommu/sbus/espdma@f,400000/esp@f,800000/sd1,0:a File and args:

    SILO boot:
    Uncompressing image...
    \
Decompression error: uncompressed image too long - wouldn't fit into destination

    Image not found... try again
    boot:

    ...

I don't have a lot of knowledge regarding bootloaders and/or linux in general
but I can see that it is at least trying to start. Or maybe looking in the wrong
place to start?? The install was spread across several disks so this may have
something to do with it. I have seen that somebody posted a similar question to
the list some time ago but never got a reply or the reply was sent directly to
the person. All other web searches steer me towards the number of modules being
loaded by the kernel as a potential problem, but, to be honest I've got no idea.
So please put me out of my misery regarding this problem so that I can enjoy my
old sparc with a nice linux operating system on it.

    Thanks,

    Rod
