hi, dear list,
i posted a message on that topic early, hope you don't mind.
recently got a nice old sparc system with 200mb conner scsi
hdd and debian 2.0
i downloaded the suse sparc isos and tried to install them instead
of the debian system, but wasnt able to make it boot from cdrom
nor from floppy disk (which i created on an intel machine)
i read a lot of docs on that topic
but the station always complained by presenting me the error
"no sun disklabel"
finally i managed to set up networking in debian and tried to
make a netupdate of the kernel 2.0 based distri - which led me
to space problems on the hdd.
i swapped alot of directorys onto another machine and mounted
them via NFS,
but made one big mistake:
wanted to do this with the /lib directory which brought me to
the point where no single command works, since ldlinux.so
is not found - i cannot recover this error in the system
anymore and decided to fix it within my intel system.
here i can't mount the partitions
this is what fdisk tells me:
Disk /dev/sda (Sun disk label): 9 heads, 36 sectors, 1254 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 324 * 512 bytes
Device Flag Start End Blocks Id System
/dev/sda1 0 1011 163782 83 Linux native
/dev/sda2 u 1011 1254 39366 82 Linux swap
# mount -t ext2 /dev/sda1 /mnt/ds
mount: /dev/sda1 is not a valid block device
could anyone help me?
if more information is needed... dont hesitate to let me know.
