Subject: kernel 2.4.1 and software raid0

    hi there,

    i am facing a problem with software raid0 on a sparc netra t1 (2x18gig
    uscsi2 disks).

    'mdcreate raid0 /dev/md0 /dev/sda4 /dev/sdb4' creates an /etc/mdtab file
    that looks okay.
'mdadd -a' tells me 'invalid argument' for /dev/sda4 and /dev/sdb4.

when i booted the machine it said things like 'invalid argument: /dev/md0'
    and
    '/etc/raid?.conf' not found.

i ran 'raidconvert.sh' then to create an /etc/raidtab file and copied it to
    /etc/raid0.conf and tried
booting it over again but it still won't work.

it now says 'raid-level 0 not supported' at boot time.

i am using kernel 2.4.1 with raid support for linear and raid0 compiled
    into the kernel image.
i remember i had to re-build the kernel, because i first had to 'insmod'
    the md.o and raid0.o
modules which had resulted in some weird errors.

is there way to get md raid0 running on a sparc platform?
or do /dev/sda4 and /dev/sdb4 have to be exactly the same size?

    thanks for your help

    Best regards
