    I've seen this problem on an Ultra1 Creator, so I guess you also have a
    Creator card of some such. What you experience is a problem with the X-server.
    There are three possible remidies (that I found):
    * Upgrade to XF86 4.0
    * Start the X-server unaccellerated, something like 'startx -- -noffb'
    * lock xv to 8-bit color mode..

    Suse 7.1 beta with 2.4 kernel and XF-4.0 seems to fix the problem.
