hey,
got my hd (2gb) and loaded the SuSE 7.0 on it,
xwindows setup went smooth using SAX, and i'm able to use 24bpp
it is kinda slow, especially with graphic intense enlightenment as the
window manager, i really hate the optical mouse, can i use a serial
(mechanical) mouse?
on another issue.......i notice staroffice is not included in the
distro,
the binary that sun has for the sparc is probably compiled using thier
solaris, so will it run on suse? or can the same i386 suse binary run on
the
sparc?
[begin rant]
this question led me to try and purchase solaris 8 which was 75.00 for a
media kit (manuals and cdrom), then SUN told me for a sparc platform
(thier OWN hardware) it was 100.00, yet the intel version is $75....
told them forget it, i'll use suse even if i can't get some commercial
apps
ported .........
[rant over]
thanks for your help,
don

I figure it'll be the same speed... just you won't be able to do some of
the resolutions and depths that I can. You'll have 24-bit video, but
don't expect too much speed. Actually, it was slow with Solaris, too.

Yeah, I've attempted getting geocrawler and mail-archive.com to archive
'em, but I don't think they've taken yet. There'll be one sooner or
later.

Odd... there's no good reason I can think of why the installation should
have differences wrt ftp on those two machines...

Yeah, I started right around there as well... somewhere in the 1.1.40's
or 1.1.50's...
