After talking to Dave Miller and Alan Cox yesterday (at linux.conf.au)
it turns out that 2.4.0 only works "completely" on Alpha and i386 currently.
(ie. there are lots of well know bugs in other archs.. some of the ports
(of which
sparc is one) have not even been fully merged back into the main source tree)
(Alan Cox is head kernel maintainer and Dave Miller is head networking guru
(at redhat) and sparc porter)
I highly recomend that everyone has a listen to the speeches. They will be
posted
in .ogg format in the next day or so on http://linux.conf.au/ (if this
domain doesn't work,
use http://www.linux.org.au/conf/ as the linux.conf.au domain will cease to
work at some
point, now that the conf is over...)
Cheers
Nix
