Hi all,
I would like to use an Ultra-5 (that is not used at the moment) as a
multi-way firewall.
Within our lab we should be able to connect to 8 different subnets.
Each 10-Base-T.
I raised to questions to our purchase department, who forwarded it
to SUN.
They told us that the use of more than one board " X1034A 501-5406 / SUN PCI
QFE (Quad fast Ethernet)"
per system is not advisable.
Question 1) Is this board supported by linux?
Question 2) can this board do 10-base-T: I don't need fast ethernet, 10MB
will do nicely
Question 3) Is SUN's estimation correct, that no more than ONE board per
system is advisable?
If so, what is my alternative? What kind of system would have enough
"power"?
I thought that an ultra-5 is in the same catagory as an Intel-P-III, as we
do not have unused multi-cpu SUN's systems around here, should i opt for a
multi-intel-cpu system?
Kind regards, Hans
