    I'm not familiar with the suse installer but i've seen errors like that
    in redhat.

    Assuming the suse installer works like most, you can switch virtual
    terminals to see logging output from the installer and from the kernel.

    Switch to whichever console displays the kernel messages and see if
    there are any scsi errors, if there are i suggest trying to install
    rh6.0.

    It seems there are a small number of SS5s that have problems with the
    recent 2.2 kernel scsi drivers.
