The module char-major-xx warning might be caused by a dangling printer job
to a non-existent or not connected printer. Check if you have lpd running
and if you have lockfiles and or spool files in your /var/spool/lpd
directory. If you have, remove 'm, sighup lpd and the message shouldn't
appear in your log anymore...
