Yup, that worked. After recompiling my kernel (I have ditched NFS because
of security reasons) I found on the SuSE site
http://sdb.suse.de/sdb/de/html/lmuelle_suselinux_internet.html
the option to mount directly from
nfs://linux01.gwdg.de:/suse/7.1/sparc
