LIST-ers,
Thanks to a poster to this list, I checked rpmfind.net to look for the
location of DCOPserver. It turns out I do have the right packages installed
- versions of kdebase and kdelibs even newer than those listed on
rpmfind.net - but still cannot start kde. I am getting these rpms directly
from Suse's ftp site.
Feel like I shouldn't have tried to update!
As the window manager begins to start up, a dialog says:
"Error setting up inter-process communication for KDE. Message is: Could
not read network connection list /root/.DCOPserver_<hostname>_:0 please
check that dcopserver is running!"
Issuing 'dcopserver' at the shell results in a "Aborting. $DISPLAY not set"
Hmm. What next? Don't remember offhand how to manually set the $DISPLAY
variable. And the 'env' command does not show a DISPLAY variable.
Lou
