Hi,
I have been trying to install 7.0 and 7.1 on a Sparc 4 (32bit) with no
internal drive, but a new external SCSI drive. Last time I installed
Solaris 7 on it, I noticed that the Solaris installer will write to the
PROM to indicate where the boot drive is located. I mentioned that
because it seems that the SuSE installer does not write to the PROM, so
I susupect that even though there is a perfectly valid installation, the
system is not finding the boot sector. Instead, it just says "WAITING
FOR ARP/RARP PACKAGE" or something like that, as if it is expecting to
boot from the ethernet card. How do I get it to see the hard dive at
boot time?
The drive is laid out like this:
partition mount point size (approx)
/dev/sda1 /boot 16M
/dev/sda2 swap 128M
/dev/sda3 whole disk 8 GB
/dev/sda4 / 8 GB
I tried installing SuSE 7.1, won't boot
I tried installing SuSE 7.0 booted the first time but wouldn't
reboot.
I am trying to upgrade to 7.1 now -- How do I get the damed thing to
boot????
Please help !
John Craig
