How did you install ? Sounds lke YaST1. YaST1 should really only be
used if YaST2 is really not able to make the installation. But I don't
know any case where YaST2 is not able to do so.
But if you have a Creator 3d, run "sax2_sbus". This creates all config
files and links. Normally the framebuffer cards makes really no problems.
There are no changes to the default selection necessary.

?? On SuSE Linux 7.1 is no 2.2.4 nor a 2.2.14 kernel.
If you installed kernel 2.4.2 and 2.2.18, you can select the right
kernel on the SILO prompt:
"linux" will boot 2.2.18, "linux_24" boots 2.4.2.
