Greetings folks,
I have been playing with my SPARC and managed to get half way through my
over clocking endeavor (mystery jumpers on the board are slowing me down)
and wanted to attach a standard floppy drive in order to get basic file
transfer (for firmware, etc).
The floppy drive header is on the very top of the motherboard. I have
attached the ribbon and to my horror, upon turning on the system watched as
pin 3 on the ribbon melted the sheathing on the ribbon from motherboard
connector to floppy drive interface, all in a matter of seconds. I replaced
the drive (after making sure the system had not died) and had the same
result. Two floppy drives and three ribbons later, I can only assume the
floppy drive header is either not functioning normally or my guess that a
standard floppy drive could be used was wrong and the pin outs are
different.
Any insights will be much appreciated.
