In the file ~/.kde/share/config/kxkbrc you should write a line Rule=sun I
think in the Layout section and then the Layout=type5 or 4 depending on your
keyboard type. At this moment you can access in the Kde Control Center the
keyboard configuration and it will display only the sun keyboards. I haven't
found any place to do this automatically. (But that's only for kde, for X11
in general you should use I think setxkbmap) But I think your problem is the
KDE and the fact that in your account you've changed your keyboard properties
using the Control Center. I've got this problem also and I've started to dig
the code to find out where it writes the informations for the kxkb and what's
the semantic (They really should have inserted a Rule pop-up in the keyboard
configuration module, probably when I'll have time I'll suggest that to the
KDE coders).
