    Are you sure? The Sun default resolution is 1152x900. If I switch my Ultra
    5 to 1280x1024 under Solaris, it doesn't use 24 bit color, either.

    I think 1280x1024x24 needs more than 4 megs of RAM to work, occupying 4
    bytes per pixel (one unused).
