At Thu, 15 Nov 2001 it looks like Bruce Forsberg composed:
forsbe->I have a Ultra 5 which I think is similar to the Ultra 10 in that they
forsbe->are both PCI based. I removed the existing 4.3 GB drive and replaced it
forsbe->with a 20GB WD 7200 IDE RPM Drive. It works fine for me. I have dual
forsbe->boot
forsbe->with both Solaris 8 and SuSe Linux 7.1. You can see the detail steps
forsbe->at www.linuxgazette.com. Look in the November issue. I wrote about
forsbe->my experiences.

forsbe->Hope this helps,

Thanks, just read the article and just put a 30-gig maxtor in my bag
to take to work tomorrow and I'll see how it goes.
I am a bit confused as to the statement below that came from the
article. I haven't had to do that with Solaris and the terms
"backup_label" and "zero_out" ? Are we referring to putting a "type"
on the partition(s) as in the "t" option in Linux's fdisk ? And
the "zero_out" draws a blank from me, could you comment on this in
"Linux" terms ? Thanks

I had to enter format and create a backup label on the third
partition (#2) and zero out all the others and label this
to the hard drive. After this I restarted the Solaris 8 install and
it went fine.
