    Subject: [suse-sparc] SPARCstation X?

    Hello,
Just joined this list. Beginning my journey to the SUN. I have been given a
sparc(?), but I have been unable to determine exactly what it is. I have yet
to see a backplate that matches what this one has. As it came with no
monitor, mouse & pad, nor keyboard, I would like to find out so I can track
down these peripherals (although I do have a monitor coming from eBay). From
left to right, this is what is on the backplate:

    SCSI DB-15 (?) RJ Serial B Serial A [ DIN & 4 sound ]
                // / <...> TP<...>

I might add, that this pizza box has been reconfigured into another
fabricated case for use as a printer server. There is, what I assume to be a
video out (9 pin) on the case. This machine has a holder for two SCSI
drives, although it has only one 2.1G. It has three S-bus slots, a crystal
sound chip and a floppy drive, if that helps narrow it down. I have no idea
of the processor, but I believe it is glued to the mobo, which I recall
reading somewhere occured only on some models. I have a bunch of part
numbers, none of which jive with what I've found except for the crystal chip.
I have no idea of the OS, although I will probably put SuSE on it
eventually. At this point, all I can do is turn it on, although I think I
have discovered its IP #, but have not been able to telnet to it. If I seem
confused, it's because I am. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Tom
