Hello List,
this is an information about problems with beta3 on Ultra Sparc 2.
My machine is a single processor ultra 2 and no grafic hardware in it.
The Kernel is booting. !! (in beta 1 and 2 the kernel was not booting)
At the SILO prompt i use yast2 in text mode with emulation VT102
(because of miniterm)
Somewhen i get to the point when yast ask me to give it a harddisk to
use.
i give it the hole disk and yast starts to fdisk etc...
but fdisk does not finish. it says no valid partitiontable on the disk.
Because of headless use i now need very urgent a rescue system which is
working over serial wires.
(remember the problems with respaning to fast /etc/inittab)
If i coud have a rescue system then i could do some testing with fdisk
and other low level tools to get the harddisk responding propperly.
Maybe i only need to set a valid disk label.
Now i try to make a tftp-boot kernelimage with usable /etc/inittab for
ttya in it to start a rescue system.
Thorsten is it possible to get an own option at silo or yast2 prompt for
use with ttya (ttyS0) only (commented out tty1 to tty6) support to boot
at? This would help much.
Thanks
