Subject: [suse-sparc] Fast ethernet speed setting

    Hi

I am in the process of setting up an evaluation machine for Linux. It is a
    Sun Ultra60 running SuSE 7.1.

We find that the fast ethernet cards on our Sun Solaris machines do not auto
negotiate correctly with the Cisco switches. The card spends most of its
time negotiating with the switch and has little time to transfer data. We
therefore set both the switch port and the card to 100MB full duplex. On the
workstation this is configured in the /etc/system file.

Does anyone know how this is acheived under SuSE.

    Thanks

    David Glass
