    People,
by accident, I sent the following message to the sparc linux
kernel list, where it made no sense. If you read both lists,
you are sick of it. But if you don't, I am looking for ideas
from those who have seen anything like this before (Ultra10+SCSI)
and what they did about it.

    With red-faced regards,
    Ferris

    ---------- Forwarded message ---------- Date: Wed, 24 Oct 2001 15:17:26 +0000 (GMT) From: fmccor <fmccor@patriot.net> To: sparclinux@vger.kernel.org Subject: Sparc Linux 7.1/ker 2.2.18 on Ultra10+PCI SCSI adaptor

I am sure that either this has been addressed, or that the answer is obvious. I haven't found the best solution, though.

The subject line says it all: What I have is a Sun Ultra10 with two internal EIDE disks (disk0, disk1) and an external SCSI disk attached using a PCI SCSI adaptor card. Currently, the disks have on them: a) disk0 -- Solaris 2.8 b) disk1 -- SuSE 7.1/2.2.18 as provided on the CD set c) SCSI -- Debian Linux(potato?)/2.2.19-r3 kernel

Now, my question. SuSE as provided above does not see the SCSI adaptor, but for various reasons I want disk0 as is (Solaris emulation -- that does work?), SuSE system on SCSI, and disk1 for sources, development, etc. (I want to stay with SuSE SPARC for compatiblity with other systems I use.) What is the least painful way for me to bootstrap myself to a system which will see the SCSI adaptor?

(Downloading CD images is not a practical option for me. I am pretty sure I could build a kernel for SuSE from the Debian sources, but that is a learning experience I have been trying to avoid. I haven't played with kernel 2.4.3(?), because this list has been giving the 2.4 kernel series mixed reviews.)

Thanks in advance for any information.
