Subject: [suse-sparc] Boot problems

When booting my sparcstation IPC (suse-sparc 7.1
linux), the different booting messages appear until it
gets to the following message:
Starting syslog services
and then the screen becomes black with only the cursor
on the left upper part. It does not do anything else.
What could this be, how could I fix it.
