Hi all,
I am trying to get a Model 112 Sparc Storage Array working with SuSE 7.1 on
a E5000.
According to a number of other message threads I have read, one element that
needs to be addressed in the firmware version of the soc (Fibre Channel
interface controller).
On my unit the soc interface (501-2069 SBus) has a firmware version of 1.3?
This needs to at least 1.52 to work in linux. This is where my problems
begin.
In reference to a previous thread
(http://lists.suse.com/archive/suse-sparc/2002-Feb/0114.html) suggests
obtaining Sun patch 104708. I have managed to obtain 104708-21 from Sun but
this doesn't appear to have the firmware upgrade for the soc interface. It
does however have a fireware upgrade for the Sparc Storage Array to take it
up to version 3.12. This I managed to apply with the included ssaadm
utility.
This utility also seems to have the ability to update firmware versions for
FC/S and FCAL interfaces. However the utility fails to detect any of these
interfaces on the e5000.
I'm hoping that the at least a number of readers on this list have
successfully negotiated this issue and are able to indicate where to obtain
this appropriate firmware and how to apply it.
I have a strong suspicion that I have the appropriate firmware identified as
"fc_s_fcode" which is located in the /usr/lib/firmware/fc_s/ directory on
fresh install of Solaris 8. I have however no way of confirming this.
How many others have experience this situation?
Many thanks in advance,
Michael Hilton
