Subject: [suse-sparc] Computer hangs on 'Starting syslog services'

I am installing SuSe Sparc 7.1 on a Sparc station 2.
When booting up it shows all the messages until it
reaches
"Starting syslog services" and then the whole screen
goes black with the cursor on the upper left corner,
and nothing else happens.

Any suggestions?
