The SUSE Sparc 7.3 CDs shipped with a 2.4 kernel. I had installed 2.2.x and upgraded to kernel 2.4 with Yast2 as I want my system to be an IPv6 DNS nameserver (the /etc/named.conf requires a 2.4 kernel to listen for IPv6 packets). Everything went well and Yast2 instructed to reboot
The boot process hangs at free_all_bootmem()
Can someone confirm that the kernel 2.4 can work on a Sparc10 or even better how to resolve the problem ?
Reading on the mailing list, I have my doubts whether it can be installed or maybe I should download a different 2.4.x kernel.
Thanks
Eivan
