[suse-sparc] xset and screen blanking?

Subject: [suse-sparc] xset and screen blanking?

    Has anyone configured screen blanking using xset under
    suse sparc 7.3 and windowmaker? I am having trouble
    getting things to work on my Voyager.

    What I think should work is:

    xset s blank
    xset s 1
    xset s activate

    all run as root.

    Unfortunately nothing happens- the display never
    blanks. Any ideas?
