They need a Sun disklabel on them. This can be accomplished in the install
by switching to the virtual console with a shell prompt (if in graphical
install mode, use CTRL-ALT-Fn -- IIRC, it will be F4 ot F5 -- if in text mode
it will be ATL-Fn -- if in serial console mode -- well, I'm not sure how to
do that......), and running fdisk. The fdisk program can create a Sun
disklabel, although it is pretty clunky to do so, as disklabels have alot of
oddball information in them. At fdisk's prompt, typing 's' will create the
Sun disklabel -- but there's alot of information to provide to it.
Or you can do a scratch installation fo Solaris 8 (just download the install
iso from Sun's site), which will create a blank disklabel for you. Just
abort the install when it reboots (with Stop-A), and install SuSE then.
