Mr. Figueroa:
a) I do not know what you mean by "reseting the chip", but if
you are asking if we have power cycled the machine, yes we have, it has
had no effect on this issue
b) We are running 2.4.14
c) We did try to compile a new kernel, but this was happening
even when we used the stock kernel.
d) This is a very busy server, and is used to ftp transfers.
Very Respectfully,

I ment a reset to the hme chip. Well, Does it work after? Or do you have
to reboot in order to make it work.

You can see what kernel version you are running by using "uname -r".
I've seen this issue with 2.2.19, 2.2.20 and a couple of 2.4 kernels
(including the latest 2.4.17).

For me, the hardware bug shows up when the card receives a lot of
information. For example, if I rsync an iso image to or from the Ultra5.
That is, with Solaris, or with Linux.
Looking at the error codes at drivers/net/sunhme.h, the error I get
(00010021) it was a "Receive FIFO overflow". You're error seems to be an
"Error during receive dma".
Hmmm... Have you tried to compile the kernel by youself? Under what
conditions does the error occurr?
