Mr. Figueroa:
I am firstly not sure that Sun Happy Meal Ethernet support is in
fact compiled into the kernel or if it is as a module, I think it is
compiled in. So I am not sure how it could shut down the module (unload
it), if it is in fact compiled into the kernel!
Now I am not saying that the Ethernet card is causing the system
to crash, I am just saying that the system is crashing, and there are
problems with the Ethernet card, and the SCSI driver.
I do not mind compiling the Sun HME driver as a module, but
which of the modules is for the "Happy Meal" Ethernet? What is a "Happy
Meal" Ethernet adapter? I only know the HME (Hundred Megabit Ethernet)
on board card.
Lastly, as I am saying we are using the latest kernel as issued
by SuSE (2.4.14). If SuSE has release 2.4.17 for SPARC, or the stock
kernel would run properly with a SPARC, then I am willing to compile and
test it.

Ok, lets say that the kernel modules has a bug and receives a malformed
intruction or a normal intruction but the module can't handle it
properly. But instead of crashing, the modules should try to shut down
the module and then turn it up again to try to keep working as if
nothing happend ;).
So, you would notice that the kernel modules did reset properly the hme
card, because after the error (probably a couple of seconds later) the
card keeps on working properly.

You are telling me that it did happend with kernel 2.4.17, right?
Well, one thing you could try so you don't have to power cycle the box,
is to compile the sunhme support as a module, and if it happens, you can
try to remove the modules and insert it back in.
Please get back to me. If none of this works, you could have found a
kernel bug.
