When you purchased the EtherExpress Pro 100 for the Sun, was it
a special version of the card for the Sun, or was it just a stock
EEPRO100 card as you would purchase from CompUSA or any other PC vendor
for a PC?
When you installed the card, what was involved to make it work
with SuSE?
What is MRTG?
I doubt that the problem is a conflict between the SCSI DMA and
the HME DMA, since prior to loading Linux, everything (under Solaris
2.6), worked fine. DMA is set in hardware (via jumpers, far as I know),
so I am somewhat confused by why this error is now happening.

I have a Sparc 5 Ultra with a happy meal and EtherExpress Pro 100, I

been following the thread and have been looking for similar errors in my
message and warn log files. I have not seen any problems but I am not
heavily loaded (I use MRTG). The Kernel is 2.4.14 supplied by SuSE 7.3
and
the modules are sunhme and eepro100.
Perhaps the problem is with the SCSI module interfering with the sunhme
module, i.e. not releasing in time for the sunhme module to process
traffic
or it is using the same DMA channel. My Sparc 5 doesn't have a SCSI card
installed.
What sort of load are you getting on the Ethernet port (i.e. bits per
second) I may find time to load up my system with FTP traffic and see if
I
can hang it up, my system has not go into production yet, so if there is
a
problem with the happy meal I would like to fix it before I rely on the
Sparc.
Ps. Don't you think that Happy Meal is a dumb name for an Ethernet
chipset.??
