I have that exact setup. This is what I used:
/usr on an external 9 gig
/ on another external 9gig
I used the internal hard drives for swap, /tmp and some other directories I
use for processing scripts.
If I can help you let me know. I did this install 2 weeks ago and should
still remember most of the details.
