Isn't this a bit over done on sda (who needs 700MB swap)??
I would suggest for sda: 64MB for /boot, 128MB swap, rest /
and on sdb /usr and /home
One might reconsider making separate partitions for /var and /tmp to limit
unlimited disk polution...

Thanks for your support. Things not working to plan. I partitionned
as
follows on the Yast2 formatting of sda fails
on the internal disk sda I put
/boot on sda1 with 295.8MB
swap on sda2 with 706.2MB
on the external disk sdb I put
/usr on sdb1 with 4.1Gb
/ on sdb2 with 4.4Gb
SILO gets installed on sda
Any hints ?

I have that exact setup. This is what I used:
/usr on an external 9 gig
/ on another external 9gig
I used the internal hard drives for swap, /tmp and some other
directories I
use for processing scripts.
If I can help you let me know. I did this install 2 weeks ago and
should
still remember most of the details.
