Actually the machine I tested on is a DNS server. The machines I pinged were
within the same subnet as the server. The times escalated and the numbers
were not correct. I have yet to get a ping off the Sparc that actually
reports a proper number. Traceroute does however report proper numbers, even
though it only has to trace two steps. And still the mystery lives at least
on my side.
