Re the physical installation of the CPU module you should be able to
simply plug it in at the backplane (next to the SBUS connectors) at the back
of the motherboard. At startup, the BIOS should report seeing both CPUs
with no further interaction. I don¹t think you even have to change any
jumpers...
Then, you will want to choose (or build yourself) a kernel with symmetric
multi-processing (SMP) support. My understanding is that there is a problem
with SMP support under 2.4 kernels (Can someone on the list verify this??),
but SuSE provides a 2.2-SMP kernel as an option in installing v7.3.
I will send (directly to your email address) a document I dug up recently
when we were adding ROSS CPUs to an SS10. Parts about speeds, jumper
settings, etc. you can ignore these won¹t apply to you. But the physical
installation sections might be useful to you.
