Great thanks all, that was the problem however I can now only see 8gb of the
40gb but I'm trying to overcome that also. I've put the geometry setting in
the silo.conf put still I can't see the rest of the disk. I'm curious, when
I brought this drive over from the other machine with Linux already
formatted with ext2, Yast2 let me configure the whole drive. Could I some
how partition it on the other machine and create the disk label without
losing the partition information to over come the size limitation?

This should give you a good overview. I think fdisk
should work but you need to create a Sun disk
label (Option s). I think you need to then write
out this info to the disk (Option w). I used the
Solaris format option instead.
