Yes, at least for all my machines except SS5/170. (SS5 boots, runs
fine under normal load, fails stress tests).

I'll do so off the list. Mail me if you want to try a readily compiled
kernel first. Compiler is definitely egcs. gcc-2.96 (rh) does not work
and I haven't tried gcc 3.x.

Happens here all the time when I use s.th. newer than 2.95.3.
