Hi all.
I've been trying to add a new (2.4.18) kernel to a Suse 7.3
installation, but I think I must be missing a step somewhere. I'm
using the default kernel config from /boot/vmlinuz.config, and the
kernel and module compilation seems to go fine. I've installed the
modules and kernel (to /boot/vmlinuz.2.4.18), and added lines to
/boot/silo.conf, and the initial boot up with the new kernel seems ok
too. The bootup stops abruptly, though, and seemingly without error
at a 'VFS ... mounted ext2' prompt. Should I change some kernel
parameters between these kernel versions?
I'm having some persistent issues with masquerading and multiple eth
devices and am hoping the new kernel can help, but I'm a bit ignorant
with sparc boot loaders. Can anyone help with this process?
thanks
Jeff
