    OK fellow List-ers,

    More fun with the SuSE kernel...

    I am compiling a new kernel 2.4.18, specifically to get Fibre Optic support
    via soc and pluto (because I can't modprobe pluto under version 2.2.20) ...

    In the kernel tree (which I've downloaded from kernel.org):

    # make mrproper
    # make menuconfig
    # make dep
    * make modules
    # make modules_install
    # make

    In the kernel 'make', I get an error:

    drivers/block/block.o: In function 'device_init':
    drivers/block/block.o(.text.init+0x140): undefined reference to 'soc_probe'
    Make: *** [vmlinux] Error 1

    Does anyone know how to fix this? Given that 'soc' is the main thing I want
    in this kernel (and that I can't get it to work in 2.2.20, either), is this
    a bug in the 'make' scripts???

    Thanks in advance...

    Lou
