    Subject: [suse-sparc] Ultra10/Adaptec SCSI & Slave HDD

I having some troubles resolving TWO issues with my SuSE SPARC Ultra10.
First, I have a Segate Cheetah 9GB IDE HDD that I would like to add as a
slave HDD on this box. It's actually the exact same HDD that came with
the system. Anyway I've installed it as a slave drive with slave jumper
settings (btw:this is not new to me) and boot the system. But the boot
hangs for a while then makes an attempt to load from the network (never
making it far enough to load lilo). I've tried various scenarios of
jumper settings (master, slave, cable select) however no success. What
am I missing when it comes to installing a second IDE HDD on an Ultra10.

Next issue involves an Adaptec AHA-2930CU (Rev 3) pci scsi controller.
The card is secured in PCI slot #1. This card is for an internel DDS-2
4mm scsi tape drive. I've recompiled my 2.4.14 kernel with SCSI & SCSI
Tape support built in, as well as the Low-Level drivers for Adaptec
AIC7xxx (newer version). After rebooting with the new kernel the card
can be found through the Control Center/Information/PCI on Bus 2/Slot 1
(02.01.0) Bridge. The tape drive is a working drive, but a 'cat
/proc/scsi/scsi' returns nothing. And a 'mt -f /dev/st0 status' returns
    nothing. Any ideas/suggestions are welcomed.

    Thanks,
    John
