Hi,
Ricks answer only confirms my thought that i probably did not set the sun
disklabel correct. Rick how did you set the disklabel?
I used fdisk and the chose the S option. I had to enter the drive specific
setting myself because fdisk did not recognize the disk. Can it also be
something in the bootprom? When i am in 'bootprom modus' and use the command
'probe-scsi' the SS5 correctly returns my drive settings for the smaller
seagate disk (unit1)and for my cd player, a plextor 32TS (unit6), but the
quantum is not listed as quantum viking iv it only states unit 3 and no
additional information is returned.
Nevertheless my system is up and running now and i don't plan on
reinstalling it again (i've done 5 installations lately) soon. I am sure
when i will reinstall in the future i'm going to spend more time on the Sun
disklabels and will post my results on this list.
Thank you Paolo for the update tip.
Bob
That's it for now.
Greetings,
Bob
